How to Get a K1 Certificate?

The K1 certificate is a type of certificate given to real or legal persons who carry out goods transportation for commercial purposes. People or companies who want to apply can physically apply to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure with the requested documents.

What Documents and Conditions are Required to Obtain a K1 Certificate?

Various conditions and documents are required to obtain a K1 certificate. Some of these are as follows:

• People who will apply to obtain a K1 certificate must have at least 3 unit vehicles with them for registration procedures. If the number is less than three, the number of vehicles must be adjusted according to the required condition before applying for the certificate.

• The total weight of trucks, tractors, or pickup trucks must not be less than 110 tons, which is another condition sought when obtaining the certificate.

• The company owned must have a capital of at least 10 thousand TL.

• The vehicles for which the application is made must not be older than 20 years.

• Trade Registry Gazette

• T.R. Identity Numbers and photocopies of identities belonging to the owner, partners, and managers

• Criminal record registry belonging to the owner, partner, and managers

• Notarized signature circular of those representing

• Rental agreement or photocopy of the title deed of the main branch

• Tax liability letter

• Motor Vehicle Traffic and Registration Certificate Samples of the vehicle or vehicles registered in the name and inspected for commercial vehicles

What Does a K1 Certificate Do?

All companies and individuals carrying out goods transportation must have a K1 certificate. Since this is a legal obligation, transportation cannot be done in a commercial sense without the certificate. Companies with a K1 certificate are offered the right to carry goods up to 75 tons. Apart from the company, the carrying right of a person who has a K1 certificate is 25 tons.

The K1 certificate also covers the safety of the goods or products to be transported. In negative situations that may occur, the party transporting their goods can claim rights.

The share and additional fees received by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure are also included in this amount. A registration fee of approximately 1 thousand TL to 2 thousand TL must be paid for each vehicle added to the registered vehicles.

Who Issues the K1 Certificate?

People who want to obtain a K1 certificate can get their certificates with the approval of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. The Ministry completes applications within 15 business days. For the K1 certificate, individuals can apply by going to the provincial or district directorates of the ministry with the required documents.

What is a K2 Certificate?

A K2 certificate is a certificate given to individuals, real and legal tax payers who will carry out private transport with trucks or pickup trucks domestically without a commercial purpose. Its difference from the K1 certificate is that no transport is made for commercial purposes. Since no commercial transport is made, no transport invoice is issued and third party goods are not carried. The company obtains a K2 certificate for the transportation activities to be used within the scope of its own business.

How to Get a K2 Certificate?

For the K2 certificate, it is mandatory for individuals to apply to the relevant provincial or district directorates of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure if they complete the necessary documents and fulfill the determined conditions. If no deficiency is seen in the submitted documents, a result is reached in approximately 15 business days. 

In addition to physical application to the relevant directorates of the Ministry, applications can also be made through e-Government. By going to the page of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure from the 'Institutions' section in the e-Government system, the application process is completed step by step. What is Required to Obtain a K2 Certificate?

The points required to obtain a K2 certificate are almost the same as those requested for the K1 certificate. The documents required for the K2 certificate can be listed as follows:

• Vehicle Card Transaction Application Form

• Authorization Certificate Application Form

• Notarized signature circular

• Certified copy and original of the Trade Registry Gazette

• Rental agreement or photocopy of the title deed of the main branch of the workplace

• T.R. identity numbers and photocopies of identities belonging to the workplace owner or partners

• Documents showing the company's capital

• Chamber of Commerce and Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen activity certificates

• Inspection, registration, and traffic certificate belonging to the registered vehicle

For vehicles with previously obtained and expired K2 certificates, a new certificate must be obtained or its duration must be extended. The amount to be paid for certificate renewal and extension processes varies. Ownership of a minimum of one vehicle is required.

While the conditions for obtaining a K2 certificate are the same as for the K1 certificate, one of the differences between them is that the carried load belongs to the vehicle owner.
